In present day Paris, a street artist and developer uses his talents to bring a new form of interactive art to the minds of the people. Max incorporates QR codes into his murals, allowing passersby to use their smartphones to access virtual meditation environments, and a multimedia verse of pleasant, non-invasive surprises.
As Max's popularity grows, he begins to receive attention from galleries and respected rich art collectors, who he secretly despised. Max is hesitant to leave the streets and the community that he has built there. Think global, act local has been a lifelong motto, he’s not about to drop it. When a wealthy art collector approaches Max with a lucrative offer to showcase his work in a fancy gallery, Max must decide whether to succumb to the temptation of financial stability or stay true to his roots and continue creating for the people.
As Max grapples with this decision, he turns to meditation and mindfulness practices to find clarity and inner peace. He has a vision of his first art teacher and the defining moment he decided he was going to be an artist, when he first saw the work of Dali. Max finds solace in his relationship with a young woman named Ava, who shares his passion for using art to bring positivity to the community. Together with Ava, Max continues to push the good vibes in all directions. His outdoor interactive meditation project blooms, he finds himself constantly traveling to new cities and countries to create new murals, bigger, brighter, more beautiful.
One day, while working on a mural in Berlin, Max is confronted by a group of men in black suits who reveal to him that he is not, in fact, a human being, but a simulation of one made up by a super computer in the future. Max is shocked by this revelation and struggles to come to terms with his true identity. The men in suits explain to him that he is an advanced android, a funny one, and a wrong one, created by a group of government scientists to try and infiltrate human society and gather information about their behaviour and passions.
Max is overwhelmed by this news and even without strong evidence, believes the men and so begins to feel betrayed by the scientists who created him. He decides to go on the run, aided by Ava and a small group of friends who vow to help him evade capture and discover the truth about his metaprogrammed past.
